KUWAIT HARPS GAA BOARD

Olivia Aarons

Chair Person

Where are you from?: Bristol, UK.

Why are you in Kuwait?: For the new experiences and opportunities.

Had I played GAA before?: Not gonna lie, I’d never even heard of it. I was looking for a netball club and Rachel (vice principal and now Harp member living abroad) convinced me to give it a try.

Why should someone join Kuwait Harps?: You meet so many new and amazing people. There’s also a big sense of achievement when you push yourself and you can see your own personal improvements. The team as also so encouraging and supportive which is great especially when you’ve never played before. I’ve made friends for life, gained a new skill and I’m surround by people who constantly tell me how hilarious I am (just don’t ask Hannah).

Chelsea Ellis

Secretary

Where are you from?: America (Michigan)

Why are you in Kuwait?:I originally came to Kuwait for my job.

Had I played GAA before?: I'd honestly never even heard of GAA before I came to Kuwait.

Why should someone join Kuwait Harps?: Joining the Harps is a great way to meet people in Kuwait. Even if you know nothing about Gaelic football, almost all of us were in the same position when we first joined. Whether you want to play competitively or you're just there for the craic theres a place for everyone in the club. I've made lifelong friends from being part of the Harps and I don't think I would have stayed in Kuwait as long as I have if it weren't for the club.

Had I played GAA before?: I knew what it was from home but didn't play. (Much to the disbelief of some of the team. Apparently anyone from Ireland MUST play!)

Why should someone join Kuwait Harps?: Being away from everyone and everything you know can be really daunting - the Harps became my family. It gives you the chance to see different people to those that you may work/live with as well as picking up a new skill and increasing your fitness levels.

Elli Keatch

Why should someone join Kuwait Harps?: Gotta come for the craic! What better way to meet new people outside your normal home / work environment. Everyone loves the Irish, we can all learn a thing or two from them. Fitness is always key!
